Highland High School won a girls basketball game, 48-47, over the vistors from Pekin Tuesday.
Pekin led 12-10 after the first quarter of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division battle, but Highland had a 23-16 halftime lead. The visitors outscored Highland 17-4 in the third quarter for a 33-27 lead, but the Huskies came back with a 21-14 edge in the final stanza.
Aly Stokes and Abbie Miller combined for 38 points and 20 rebounds. Sarah Schneider had four assists. Alyssa Brase had 11 rebounds. Stokes had three blocks.
No. 13 (Class 2A) Mediapolis 62, Iowa Mennonite 37
IMS lost this SEISC North Division game at home Tuesday despite Suzanna Yoder’s 23 points with four 3-pointers, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Mia Graber scored six points.
WACO 59, Cardinal 45
The Warriors got their first victory of the year with a road win Tuesday over the SEISC South Division foe.
WACO trailed 10-8 after the first quarter and 26-17 at halftime, but went on a 21-3 run in the third quarter.
Keota 39, English Valleys 36
The Eagles won on the road Tuesday.
Wapello 58, Columbus 22
The visitors won the Tuesday SEISC North Division game with a 22-4 second-quarter advantage. It was 9-7 for Wapello at the end of the first quarter.
