The Washington eighth grade boys basketball A team ended their season with an exciting win over Ft. Madison last week.
“They had a strong final 3 minutes to go from a tie game to a nine-point win,” coach Mark Berhow said.
Ethan Patterson led the team with 25 points, 13 rebounds and seven steals. The A team finished with a 4-5 record.
“We as coaches have very much enjoyed working the past two seasons with these players,” Berhow said. “They have grown in their basketball skills and in their character. Well done!”
The B team lost 19-16 to finish the season 3-6. Aiden Ulin had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The C team lost 11-10 and ended with a 3-3 record. Austin Rebling scored four points and snagged five rebounds.
For the season, the A team was led by Patterson’s 22 points per game and 12.5 rebound average. Aden Six averaged 6.7 points and 5.5 rebounds while Avery Six had a 2.7 points average and 2.7 rebounds. Other players were Tayven Stuart, Drew Horak, Cameron Vongpanya, James Strabala, Elijah Morris, Ajay Six and Evan VanderMolen.
For the B team, Ulin scored 40 points on the season while logan Wenger had 27. Other point totals were Isaac Vetter 23, Vongpanya 17, Michael Niles 14, Tucker Graf 13, Rebling 12, Morris 8 and Jude Brown 3.
The C team’s leading scorer for the season was Rebling with 36 and Graf with 19. Others were Niles 17, Aiden Muff 14, Vetter 14, Brown 14, Collin Tanner 4, Brian Fritz 3 and Kyler Warren.
