Even when you are terminally ill, there can be a lot of living to do. Hospice volunteers play a vital part in making special moments possible for our patients and their families. Across the U.S., more than 430,000 hospice volunteers give 19 million hours of service every year.
We, at Hospice of Washington County, are proud that right here in our community approximately 75 volunteers serve Hospice of Washington County patients, their families and assist with hospice events. These valuable volunteers accrued 1422 hours in the past year with direct patient care, clerical assistance, serving on the board of directors, and assisting with fundraising. Our community is a better, more compassionate place because of their service.
April 7-13 in National Volunteer Week and every single volunteer deserves our appreciation and grateful acknowledgment.
I encourage and welcome others to discover what makes Hospice of Washington County, a not-forprofit agency, stand out in our community. To learn more about Hospice of Washington County or to find out how to become a Hospice volunteer, please contact us at www.hospicewc.com or call 319-653-7321
