Traffic accident

A caller Monday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported that someone struck their vehicle while it was parked at Ace-N-More. An officer responded. Pieces of the suspect vehicle were located. Documentation was made for insurance.

A caller Monday evening at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that a hit-and-run accident occurred in their parking lot. A black van was still in the parking lot, but the other vehicle took off. The caller requested an officer. The accident occurred on private property, and damages were less than $1,500. Documentation was made.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle parked the wrong direction, Monday morning at H Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona. A written warning was written for vehicle operator Shane Hendricks, of Kalona, for parking wrong direction.

A vehicle stop was reported Monday morning at H Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona, in reference to a vehicle parked the wrong way. A written warning was issued to vehicle operator Patrick Dean Wilcox, of Kalona, for wrong-direction parking.

Disabled vehicles

A caller early Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 150th Street in Riverside reported that his vehicle was disabled on the side of the road. An officer responded and gave the driver a ride to a residence in Washington. The vehicle was added to the system.

Animal complaint

A smaller terrier type dog, tan and white in color and wearing a red collar, was reported running westbound on the four-lanes, Monday morning at East Washington Street in Washington. An officer responded and was unable to locate the dog in the area. The officer reported that he saw the dog earlier in the morning and was unable to catch it on North 12th Avenue. It appeared to be a Chihuahua.

Assault

A caller Monday morning at South Third Avenue in Washington reported that her nephew called her, stating his girlfriend had a knife and was trying to harm him. There was a small child in the residence. Two officers responded. The male subject left the residence for the day.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Monday afternoon at West Tyler Street in Washington reported yelling, cursing and loud noises that sounded like items being thrown, coming from a neighboring apartment. Two officers responded. An officer transported a male subject to Washington County Hospital and Clinics for an evaluation.

Suspicious activity

A caller Monday morning at West Madison Street in Washington reported finding a suspicious item in the men’s restroom. An officer responded and retrieved the item.

Welfare check

A caller Monday afternoon at Palm Avenue in Washington reported that a subject was not answering her door or cellphone and her vehicle hadn’t been moved for a couple of days. An ambulance transported a patient to the Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington, arriving at 5:27 p.m.

A caller Monday night at Third Street in Kalona reported that she hadn’t heard from her son for a month, and his phone went to voice mail. The caller requested a welfare check on him. An officer was unable to locate the subject at the address given. The subject called in later, at 10:55 p.m., to advise that he was fine but just did not want any contact with his mother at that time.

A caller Monday morning at Airport Road in Washington reported the theft of checks. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

A caller Monday afternoon at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a student in the cafeteria being noncompliant. Parents were contacted, and the student was counseled.
