Arrests

An officer reported being out with a vehicle at the Wellman Farm Center, early Saturday morning at Fir Avenue in Wellman. Lakin Hope Miller, 26, of Keota, was arrested on charges of OWI first offense and open container.

Traffic accident

A caller Friday morning at Larch Avenue and Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a utility truck on its side in the ditch, and was unsure if anyone was in the vehicle. All units were paged out. Medical units were disregarded, as contact was made with the driver, who was not injured and had contacted a wrecker and Alliant Energy. The vehicle operator was Donald Marie, of Washington. A utility pole was struck, and a wire snapped.

A caller Friday night at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported being involved in a car-vs.-deer accident. The windshield had shattered. There were no injuries to vehicle occupants. An officer responded. They moved the vehicle and parked in the Family Practice parking lot and were going to tow it on Saturday. They were given a state accident report.

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop, Friday night at Highway 92 in Keota. A citation was issued to Misti Dawn Sherman, 39, of Washington, for driving under suspension.

Traffic other

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, early Saturday morning at 295th Street and Dogwood Avenue in Brighton. A subject was just sleeping in his vehicle.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday morning at 220th Street and Quince Avenue in Washington. The officer assisted with changing a tire.

A caller Friday night at Highway 92 and Ivy Avenue in West Chester requested a welfare check on an occupied disabled vehicle, possibly east of West Chester on Highway 92. The vehicle was located, and subjects were given a ride to Moore’s BP. They had help coming to tow the vehicle.

Fire calls

A caller Friday afternoon at 210th Street and Redwood Avenue in Washington reported a field on fire with no structures nearby. Washington Fire responded and extinguished the fire.

Animal complaint

A caller Friday morning at 10th avenue in Wellman reported a cat stuck in the hood of her vehicle. An officer responded and was unable to locate the animal.

A caller Friday morning at East Sycamore Street in Riverside reported that their dog was taken from the residence and poisoned. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller Friday morning at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a loose black Lab trying to bite his dog through the fence. An officer responded. Contact was made with the owner, who came and got the dog.

A caller Friday afternoon at Deer Run Drive in Riverside reported that the neighbor’s Rottweiler was running loose on the caller’s property. Scott Skipton, of Riverside, was cited for allowing a dog to run at large. A court date was set for July 11, 2019.

A caller Friday night at West Seventh Street and North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a dog bite. An officer responded. The dog was up-to-date on its shots. The officer gave the dog-bite form to the victim’s family.

Civil dispute

A caller Friday evening at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that her mother-in-law would not give back her husband’s phone. An officer responded and made contact with both parties. These were civil issues.

Fraud

Hy-Vee Pharmacy reported receiving fraudulent prescriptions, Friday afternoon at Highway 1 in Washington. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Friday night at North Third Avenue in Washington reported harassment via phone calls and text messages. An officer responded. The caller was advised to ignore it and block the phone numbers.

A caller Friday night at West Van Buren Street in Washington reported that her friend was being harassed by her landlord. An officer responded. It was a civil issue. Documentation was made.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller early Saturday morning at South Third Avenue in Washington reported a verbal altercation with his adult children. Two officers responded and spoke with the subject and his son. They were separated for the night. The subject later called back, advising that his son came back into the residence and stole his wallet. Two officers responded. The subject left the residence for the night, and money was later located by the caller.

Liquor law violations

A caller Friday night reported an underage drinking party at a residence on Juniper Avenue in West Chester. County units responded. No one would come to the door. A family member was going to get rid of the alcohol that was left in the shop.

A vehicle stop was reported, Friday night at Ivy Avenue and Highway 92 in West Chester. Two additional officers responded. Five juveniles were cited for possession of alcohol under the age of 18. Parents came and picked up their children, and an adult came and retrieved the vehicle.

Suspicious activity

A caller Friday afternoon at North Iowa Avenue reported that her door was open when she came home. No one was inside the residence. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

All other theft

A caller Friday afternoon at West Monroe Street in Washington reported the theft of clothing at the laundromat. An officer spoke to the caller. A report will be filed.
