No injuries were reported Thursday morning following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 1.

According to a report from the Washington County Sheriff’s office, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, a blue 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by Ray Davis, of Fairfield, was traveling southbound in the 2900 block of Highway 1. The vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline and struck a 2011 Ford Edge driven by a juvenile, from Brighton.

The Ford Edge spun 180 degrees and came to a rest in the southbound west ditch. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The report said Davis told authorities that he had just gotten off work and fell asleep, which caused him to cross the centerline. Davis was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide financial liability — accident related.

The report said the Sonata was totaled, while the Edge received disabling damage.
