The Crawfordsville Lions met Monday evening, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. for their dinner meeting at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 12 members present. Lion President Adam Mitchell called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Gene Miller offered prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. The minutes of the Oct. 8, and Oct. 22, meetings were read by Secretary protem Lion Billie Jo Rose and they were approved as read. Treasurer Lion Randy Finke gave the treasurer’s report.
Old Business: The club’s annual Christmas party arrangements are still being organized and will be announced at the next meeting.
New Business: The December Blood Drive sponsored by the Lions Club will be held Monday, Dec. 3, at the United Church of Crawfordsville from 1:30-6:30 p.m. It was announced that members of the Crawfordsville Community Club will be present to wrap Christmas gifts, up to a limit of three, for anyone participating in the Blood Drive.
Lion Finke announced the club’s annual donation to I.C.L.F. and the Iowa Lions Foundation is due at this time and a motion was made, seconded and carried to do so.
The town Christmas lights will be put up Saturday, Nov. 24, at 9 a.m.
The club’s annual Christmas drawing will be held Saturday, Dec. 22. More details will be available at the next meeting.
The Lions Pancake Supper will be Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at the Elementary School in Crawfordsville. A discussion was held concerning size of the sausage patties and that will be checked into. There still is leftover meat from the fall pancake breakfast and decisions on distributing it were discussed

The United Church Women met Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the United Church of Crawfordsville with 15 present, including guests, Marlene Palster, Crystal Beckler and Pastor Jason Collier and wife, Christina.
Donna Fletcher presented the devotions from the book, “ A Miracle a Day,” with a reading about “A Miracle and Money.”
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
The minutes of the Sept. 11 meeting were read by Secretary Billie Jo Rose and they were approved as read.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave the treasurer’s report and it will be filed for audit. Memorials from the U.C.W. will be given to the Marie Lowe family and the Marshal Rose family. Blessing Boxes were collected.
Correspondence: Thank-you from Doug and Carol Steele for their 50th anniversary was read as it had inadvertently been placed on the bulletin board. There was a thank-you from the Allan Lucas family and the Marshal Rose family. Also a thank-you from Tammy Lowe and Emily Lewis Boylan for the quilts given them.
Local Activities: Donna reported paper supplies continue to be supplied by Jeff Johnston, for which everyone is grateful, and she also reported there are issues with the stove top.
Dorcas: Wilma reported 12 quilts have been finished, three to local people, 11 to Fellowship Cup and two to Cradle of Hope. They also will be providing some to Hospice of Washington County in the future.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: The Usual had been sent.
Study and Devotions/Mission Outreach: Clarissa Malmberg presented the message “ For You Once Were Aliens.” “So God Welcomes Sojourners Home.” This related to the problems the immigrants are having tody.
Thanksgiving In-Gathering Report: Helen reported she put together 164 kits (Health and School.)
Old Business: It will be decided at the next meeting about camp scholarships.
New Business: It was decided to pay for the ingredients for stuffing for the Thanksgiving Dinner at Wayland and Jason and Tina will prepare it.
