Three Mahaska County men have been charged with second-degree sexual abuse for the alleged rape of a Washington County minor in June 2017.

Three men from Mahaska County were arrested on Washington County Warrants for the same count of sexual abuse in the second degree, a class B felony, Saturday, June 8.

According to the Washington County Communications Media Report, Ryan Craig Montgomery, 28, of New Sharon; Lucas Benjamin Anderson, 21, of Rose Hill; and Parker Jay Davis, 21, of New Sharon, were all arrested. All three subjects were transported to the Washington County Jail and held on $25,000 bond.

According to court documents, the crime occurred on June 4, 2017, at a parking lot/garage in the 1400 Block of Highway 22 in Kalona. According to the affidavit, Sergeant Chad Ellis with the Washington County Sheriff’s ofice responded on June 5, 2017, in regard to a sexual assault that occurred the day before.

The affidavit states a young juvenile female was given a ride home by three adult men in a truck from a rural Washington County residence to one in the Kalona area. The juvenile stated more than one of the males in the truck sexually assaulted her.

Upon completion of a sexual assault kit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, evidence was collected and three suspects in the case were identified in having sex with the juvenile. During an interview, the juvenile stated she was impaired and could not consent and said more than one male sexually assaulted her by taking turns.

An interview with the defendants was conducted and all three denied any contact with the victim. The victim’s clothing and results from the sexual assault kit were then sent to the DCI Lab for testing. The results indicated that Montgomery and Anderson did sexually abuse the juvenile based on DNA. Davis later admitted to having sex with the juvenile during the time frame.

Preliminary hearings have been set for June 18.
