RIVERSIDE — Charges are pending on an Iowa City woman after emergency workers had to remove her from a vehicle that had rolled onto its side Monday evening.
According to the Washington County call log, at 8:50 p.m. the Washington County Communications Center received a call reporting that a vehicle had run a stop sign at Highway 22 and Vine Avenue while traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer’s preliminary accident report says driver Kelley Suzanne Williams, no age listed, of Iowa City lost control of the 2018 white Jeep Grand Cherokee and it became airborne. Williams was listed as the only occupant of the vehicle and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The vehicle reportedly hit a power pole and rolled over onto its side.
Riverside QRS, Riverside Fire, Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies, and Eastern Iowa Light and Power all responded. The vehicle was towed. Washington County Ambulance transported one subject to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The vehicle was reported totaled. Over $1,500 damage was reported to the vehicle and a state accident report will be filed.
Charges are pending per DCI lab results on Williams for OWI first offense and assault on medical personnel, the call log said.
