Wanted subject arrested Thursday morning

A subject wanted out of Wapello County and Oakdale for voluntary absence from custody was arrested early Thursday in the 2400 block of Highway 92 after leading police on a chase.

According to the Washington County call log an officer requested backup, reporting that a wanted subject had left the scene on foot. The log said seven officers and Washington County Sheriff?s deputies and the Washington County Ambulance responded. The subject was located at 2477 Palm Ave. The amulance was requested for a dog bite. The subject was not transported.

David Dakota Copeland, 24, of Ottumwa, was arrested on warrants out of Wapello County and Oakdale. The Wapello County warrant was for voluntary absence from custody. Bond is set at $1,000. The Oakdale warrant was for escape from Ottumwa Residential Facility on an original charge of forgery.

No bond was placed on that charge. The subject was also charged in Washington County with interference with official acts.

A detainer has been placed and extradition arrangements will be made.
