Voters will see 1 locally contested race in Nov. 6 election

Washington County will see one local contested race on thier ballot in November.


According to the nomination papers filed at the Washington County Auditor?s office, candidate Jeff Thoman, who is running as an Independent, is challenging supervisor Abe Miller for Miller?s Washington County Board of Supervisor?s Dist. 3 seat.


The nominating papers for the Nov. 6 general election were due in the auditor?s office Wednesday afternoon. Election official Sue Meeks said the local candidates were listed, but the state and federal candidates would not be available until Tuesday, Sept. 4.


Other candidates who have filed to run in the election include:


Richard Young - Board of Supervisors, Dist. 5;


Jeffrey A. Garrett - Washington County Treasurer;


Jo Ellen Greiner - Washington County Recorder;


John Gish - Washington County Attorney;


Julie Johnson - Brighton Township Clerk;


Gordon Shelangoski - Brighton Township Trustee;


Peg Roberts - Clay Township Clerk;


Susan M. Basten and Ann C. Williams - county hospital trustee (two positions);


Dave Birney and Darrell Steele - Soil and water conservation district commissioner (two positions;


Corey Malichky - Soil and water conservation district commissioner (to fill vacancy;


Margaret Brinning, Rhonda Clough, Dennis Lampe, Donna Palmer and Ann Williams - County agricultural extension council (five positions)


No candidate has filed to run for Clay Township trustee.
