Rios arrested in Muscatine

MUSCATINE ? A West Liberty man wanted out of Washington County was arrested Friday afternoon at 312 E. Fifth Street in Muscatine.

According to the Washington County call log, Esau Rios, 36, of West Liberty, was arrested for violation of probation on original charges of assault with bodily injury or mental illness and trespass and a second warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of assault causing injury on a peace officer. Bond is set at $10,000.

Rios was arrested Feb. 13, 2017 in Washington for driving under suspension, ninth offense, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and assault on a police officer after a short chase through town. An officer reported attempting to stop a green and gray-colored Ford van with no plates at South 10th Avenue and East Main Street in Washington. The report said the vehicle allegedly did not stop. Officers continued in short pursuit and stopped at East Seventh Street and North 12th Avenue in Washington. The vehicle was towed. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman said the incident did not involve high speeds.
