Arrests


Jon Michael Holeton, 35, of Keota, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of East Broadway in Keota on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm as a felon, and possession of controlled substance ? marijuana, third and subsequent.


 


Traffic accident


A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a traffic accident. An officer responded. Damages amounted to more than $1,500, and drivers? information was exchanged. A state report was filed.


A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and Mile Marker 72 reported a car-vs.-deer accident. The vehicle was not drivable. An officer responded.


 


Disabled vehicles


A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 175th Street in Riverside reported that her vehicle was disabled, on the northbound side of Highway 218 near Mile Marker 75. An officer responded and was unable to locate the operator. The vehicle, a silver Honda Civic, was added to the system.


An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 150th Street in Riverside. The vehicle had a note that said the fuel pump went out. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.


A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Monday evening at 220th Street and Highway 1 in Washington. The deputy advised that the subject was changing his tire and that the vehicle should be moved after the tire was changed.


A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Tuesday night at Kiwi Avenue and Highway 1 in Washington. The deputy advised that it was unoccupied and was added to the system.


 


Fire calls


A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported illegal burning. An officer responded. The resident was advised of the city ordinance and advised that next time a citation would be issued.


A caller Tuesday night in the 1600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported smoke coming from their basement. They found something burning inside their crawl space. Officers, an ambulance, Washington Fire, and Alliant Energy responded. The fire was extinguished.


 


Animal complaint


A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported a cat and a dog inside a trailer with no electricity. An officer responded and spoke with the caller and the subject with the dog. They had no electricity, but the dog had food and water and was fine.


A caller Tuesday night in the 500 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported a loose dog that lived in the area. It was a German shepherd. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate any loose dogs.


 


Intimidation/harassment


A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Street in Kalona reported receiving harassing text messages over a civil situation. The caller requested that a deputy speak to the subject and advise him to have no more contact with them. An officer spoke with the subject. They were advised that this was a civil matter. The incident was documented.


 


Trespass


A caller Tuesday morning in the 1200 block of Poplar Boulevard in Kalona reported trespassing at the old bridge at about 4 a.m. on June 3. A citation was issued to a juvenile male, of Kalona.


 


Vandalism


A caller Tuesday morning in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported that her HHR had a scratch, and the neighbor?s truck window was broken out. An officer responded for documentation purposes.


 


Weapons violation


A caller Tuesday night in the 800 block of Eighth Street in Kalona reported that a male subject was riding around on a lawn mower, shooting rabbits with a BB gun. He had trespassed on the caller?s property. An officer responded. The subject was on his own property upon the officer?s arrival, and was spoken to about the complaint.


 


All other theft


A caller Tuesday morning in the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a stolen bicycle that was leaning against the building while her son was inside the restaurant. The bicycle was a blue and silver mountain bike, Huffy brand, and it also had a broken back brake. An officer was advised and planned to look around for the bicycle.


 


All other offenses


A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Main Street and North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported an abandoned white Schwinn bicycle that had been at the intersection for about a week. The bicycle, a white and pink Hyper Vision, was taken to the bike shed.
