The Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center introduces the third event of their second season. MetroMix of Iowa City, a Sweet Adelines chorus, will perform at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12. The MetroMix Chorus is a dynamic organization of women singers performing quality barbershop music--four-part harmony, a cappella.
The public is encouraged to purchase MetroMix reserved seats online at WashingtonAuditorium.org. Tickets will also be on sale at the Chamber of Commerce two weeks prior to the show or at the box office one hour before performance.
Barbershop is one of the only completely American (USA American) art forms, but the Sweet Adelines organization has gone international?establishing choruses all over the world.
As an established chorus, MetroMix is an active member within Sweet Adelines International and has won numerous regional awards and the right to perform at nine international competitions.
Women from a 75-mile radius of Iowa City combine to form MetroMix. Members converge from Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and other smaller towns including Washington, Riverside, Wellman and Keota to participate in this group.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. an hour before the Nov. 12 performance, a free dessert reception in the high school Commons, furnished by Café Dodici, will honor all the Washington Performing Arts and Events Center Donors. All audience members are invited to the reception. Named Giving plaques honoring those who donated at least $25,000 will be unveiled for this event as well as donor seat labels.
This year?s MetroMix show titled ?So What?s New?? is a musical romp, with comedy, harmony and bling which will include local guest performers.
