Investigation initiated for man killed by farm sprayer

PARNELL ? According to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff?s office a Wellman man died after being hit by a chemical sprayer Monday afternoon.

At 1:14 p.m., Johnson County sheriff deputies and emergency personnel responded to the scene of a farming accident at 4737 Blackhawk Avenue Southwest in Parnell. Sixty-five-year-old Merlyn Yoder, of Wellman, was struck by a chemical sprayer and died.

The press release said the accident remains under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff?s office.

The Washington County Sheriff?s office, Iowa State Patrol, Wellman Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance and the Johnson County Medical Examiner all assisted at the scene.
