Hawks lose to Panthers

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team ended their season Monday night in the first round of the Class 2A district tournament at Pekin, losing 64-48.

The Panthers grabbed a 18-9 lead after the first quarter. The Golden Hawks made a comeback in the second quarter and cut the Panther lead to three at one point. But Pekin rallied and took a 32-25 advantage into the break.

The third quarter belonged to Pekin and the Hawks never got closer than a 6 point deficit in the remainder of the game.

Mid-Prairie was led by Cale Robertson with 16 points, Tom Butters finished with 10.

The Hawks lose seven seniors from this year?s team: Terrhyn Jacoby, Cary Schaefer, Ryan Slaubaugh, Collin Gingerich, Josh Slaubaugh, Kyle Miller and Jacob Busch. The Golden Hawks end the season at 5-17.
