Too many turnovers shut down a second half run by the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks boys basketball team, allowing the North Cedar Knights to grab a 59-50 win.
The Golden Hawks and the Knights traded baskets throughout the first half, but the Knights went on a run in the closing minutes to take a 29-24 lead into the break.
The Hawks kept the game close, but never led in the game.
Head coach Daren Lambert pointed to the turnovers as the Hawks? limiting factor in the game.
?Early on in the game, we defended well, and in the first quarter, it put us in a position to keep the game close. Offensively, we took some time to adjust to their zone defense. Turnovers throughout the game put us in a tough situation to come back from, later. We were led by Tom Butters who had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Cale Robertson who scored 10 points,? he said.
The Hawks are now 2-8 on the year.
