Halcyon House Activity Department hosted the weekly trivia program, ?Can You Believe It?s Not Butter? this past Monday, July 16. Residents started out with a word search puzzle with words pertaining to things that you can put butter on. Next came the making of the butter. Baby food jars were given to each person with the butter ingredients in them. The residents then mixed the ingredients until you had soft creamy butter. We had warm toast along with freshly made butter for a tasty morning treat. Trivia is always a part of the program and we learned that it takes 21 pounds of fresh, wholesome cow?s milk to make each pound of butter . Butter was probably accidentally created when whole milk carried in skin bags was carried by horseback and naturally ?churned? while traveling over rough terrain.
This past week the Halcyon House Activity Department baked delicious blueberry streusel muffins in Arborwood. The residents helped prepare the muffins by mixing the fresh berries into the bowl with the other ingredients. Everyone enjoyed this delicious homemade treat!
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Carolyn Kaufman, Ethel Henderson, Marilyn Weatherman and Erma Ropp.
The residents and team members at Halcyon House extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Bess Edwards.
