The weekly church service was provided by The Rev. Moody Colorado representing the West Chester Methodist Church. The sermon was titled ?Well Done, Faithful Servant.? Scripture from Matthew 25 was shared with those in attendance in the Epworth Chapel.

Residents recently participated in Queen?s Day trivia, in honor of the 66th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elisabeth II of Great Britain. Ethel Sieren shared some of her ?royal? treasures from her collection of English monarch memorabilia.

Sherry Sieren shared her passion of needlework with some of the residents with a new program that recently started, ?Hand towel embroidery.? That evening residents gathered to watch ?Elizabeth at 90: A Family Tribute.?

Elisabeth Tinnes of the ?Joy of Music,? came and shared her talent with residents gathered in Rosewood. In Wedgewood, residents gathered around for ?Cranium Crunch,? testing their wits on trivia and games. That afternoon, residents gathered in Wedgewood to play Bingo in the dining room. Afterward in the Wedgewood Family Room, Eveline Adams conducted the weekly rosary.

Richard Colby came to Rosewood and presented the residents with his ?Classics Et Cetera? program. Featured composers were Jean-Baptiste Lully, Carl Maria von Weber, Franz Lehar, Charles Wolseley, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, Paul Hindemith. He repeats the program on Friday morning in the Chapel for Independent living residents and those unable to attend the Thursday program.

In honor of potato lovers day, residents in Arborwood enjoyed a cooking class and made homemade baked potato skins. Residents gathered in the Wedgewood Family Room for Al and Lorna Olson?s Bible Study group.

Residents continued to make Valentine heart door decorations during Creative Arts class. In honor of Hershey?s Chocolate being founded in 1894, residents made Peanut Butter Blossom cookies topped with a Hershey?s kiss. They ended the day watching ?Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.?

Fifteen units of blood were collected at Halcyon House during the Blood Drive on Feb. 9, from residents, team members and the community. The drive goal was to have 16 people donate. There were 19 people who attempted to donate. The 15 units of blood has the ability to improve the lives of 60 patients and their families both in Washington County and surrounding areas.

Ellen Perdock recently had visitors in town to celebrate her birthday. Daughter and husband, Diane and Bob Holtaway along with several local relatives enjoyed the weekend with Ellen.

Walking 4 Wellness-walking and book club is off to a great start with the Wellness Department new intern, Amy, facilitating this club. Amy is in her final semester at the University of Iowa and will be receiving a degree in Health Promotion. She designed and implemented the program with a class for residents and a separate one for team members. The book ?Walking 4 Wellness? proves to be a very interesting read and is making for a great discussion group. Those taking part in the group have included Sandy and Pete Weller, Jane Leyden, Bea Johnson, Marcella Reed, and Gladys Ferguson.

Halcyon House is full of beautiful flowers being delivered from loved ones to celebrate Valentine?s Day!!
