Halcyon House News

The Rev. W. David Watson representing the First Assembly Church, provided the weekly service to Halcyon House residents on Sunday. The sermon was titled ?The Power of the Word.? Scripture from Mark:11 was shared with those in attendance. Dorothy Koehler Yoder shared her talents on the piano with those present.

Halcyon House residents spent a day last week decorating for the holidays. Rosie Stelton and her niece Colleen Alonzi decorated the Halcyon House library with a beautiful nativity set. Halcyon House residents and staff decorate several trees throughout campus. Marilyn Mangold very graciously donated gorgeous vintage Christmas decorations, which Jane Leyden used to decorate the tree in the Game Room. Following the campuswide decorating, residents enjoyed some of Virginia Tschantz?s delicious homemade Christmas tea ring with cocoa and coffee while listening to Christmas music in the Game room. A huge thank-you to Halcyon House residents Jane Leyden, Karen McCreedy, Linda Sturdevant, Marcella Reed, Loretta Gardener, Gladys Ferguson, Dolores Wood, Erma Ropp, Eva Gallagher, Lee Smothers, and Bea Johnson for all their help making Halcyon House look beautiful and festive for the 2017 holiday season!

Halcyon House will be hosting its 10th Annual Craft and Vendor Fair and Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 2. There will be over 60 vendors throughout the campus offering everything from homemade baked goods and handcrafted jewelry, rugs and doll clothes to a great representation of home-based businesses. Three apartments will be featured for tours. Thank you to Halcyon House residents Jane Leyden, Dan and Margaret Stauffer, and Dolores Wood for opening their apartments for the tours. There will also be a sneak peek at one of our health care households and a chance to win $100.

Mary Meeks spent an exciting weekend when her granddaughter, Mejo Meeks of Nashville, Tennessee, and grandson, Glen Meeks, of O?Fallon, Missouri, came to visit her. A lot of card-playing, eating out and taking drives went way too fast.

Mike and Will Thornton, son and grandson of Sybil Thornton, spent a beautiful Thanksgiving Day with tremendous conversation over a fantastic dinner. They enjoyed their time together.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following Halcyon House residents Linda Sturdevant and Laurita Ross.

Halcyon House residents and team members send out their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Alice Edgin.
