The application deadline for the fall grant cycle of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) has now closed.
This year only 54 groups applied for a grant.
?That?s the smallest amount I?ve ever had,? said WCRF executive assistant Jim Logan. ?We average 80 to 90 applications usually.?
Logan added he didn?t know why there was a decrease this time.
Some of the 54 groups that applied for a grant this fall include the Washington Community School District for the Case Field Parking lot project and Lincoln Safety and Accessiblity, Washington County Conservation for the Kewash Trail Kirkwood Connection, Wellman Volunteer Fire Department for equipment washer and dryer, and the City of Brighton for cemetery headstone reset, according to the list given to The Journal by Logan.
On Dec. 6, the grants will be announced at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort after a regular board meeting at 6 p.m., Logan said.
?We?ll give out up to $1 million,? he added. ?This is a little bit more than last spring. I think we gave out $800,000.?
The fall grants are usually announced in November but the board decided not to have a November meeting this year, Logan said.
