John Gish, of Washington, is seeking the Republican nomination for Washington County Attorney. Following the appointment of Shawn R. Showers to District Court Judge, Gish was selected by the Washington County Board of Supervisors in January 2017 to fulfill the remainder of Showers? term. Gish cites overwhelming support from members of the community and law enforcement in seeking the appointment, and looks to build on the work done over the last year.
Before being appointed to Washington County Attorney, Gish served as assistant county attorney for Washington and Keokuk Counties, and practiced in civil law. In addition to his background as an attorney, John served eight years as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, to include time as a company commander overseas in the Global War on Terrorism.
Gish?s wife, Nicole, is an educator in the Washington Community School District, and together they have a 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.
