RIVERSIDE ? ESO, the Highland Community School District Elementary Support Organization held its first-ever father/daughter dance to raise funds to further support the school district on Jan. 27, at St. Mary?s Parish Hall.
?The event was a great community success to bring the Highland school district together,? Superintendent, Dr. Mike Jorgenson, said of the father/daughter dance. ?I look forward to more creative and fun events in the future.?
?We originally anticipated about 75 people, but we ended up with over 140 people participating in the event,? ESO president Maria Meller said. ?The best thing about the event was that there were so many little girls all dressed up and grinning along with their fathers. It was so amazing to see so many dads turn out and dance the night away.?
The dance wasn?t limited to fathers, grandfathers, uncles, cousins and friends also attended to support the school kids. In addition to the dance, ESO held a silent auction, and the girls had the opportunity to have their hair and makeup done by Eden Salon in Kalona. Each participant received a tiara and corsage (the girls, not the dads.). The event was so successful that ESO will continue to hold the father/dance for years to come.
