FAIRFIELD ? The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office reports that on Aug. 16 several search warrants were executed in southeast Iowa for the possession and distribution of a controlled substance.
A news release states as a result of the warrants, illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and an undetermined amount of money was seized.
The release said law enforcement agencies involved in the execution of search warrants and the ongoing investigation include: The Jefferson County Sheriff?s office, Fairfield Police Department, Wapello County Sheriff?s office, Ottumwa Police Department, Southeast Iowa Inner-Agency Drug Task Force, Keokuk County Sheriff?s office, Iowa State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Henry County Sheriff?s office, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Washington County Sheriff?s office, Monroe County Sheriff?s office, Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider could not be reached this morning to comment on what action had been taken in Washington County.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
