The recent cold, wind and rain has played havoc with local teams? sports schedules.
Regardless of the weather, the Demon Relays Coed Meet will be run Thursday at Case Field in Washington by high school track teams. The meet starts at 3:30 p.m.
?I think we will be all right because it is supposed to reach 53 degrees,? Washington boys head coach Steve Roth said. ?We are starting earlier to take advantage of the weather.?
There will be plenty to take in at the meet.
The recent weather has increased the number of schools participating.
?They haven?t been able to run so we dropped the number of entrants in an event from four to two, and accepted more teams,? Roth said. ?We have schools from Mason City and Dubuque coming.?
There will also be three Special Olympics events starting at 4:30 p.m.
?We started that this winter and there is a meet this weekend, but we were denied entry because we didn?t get everything done by the deadline,? Roth said.
The three events will be the 50-meter dash, the javelin and softball throws.
The meet will also be Senior Night for the Demons.
?We will honor our senior girls and boys in the program,? Roth said.
