Deer accidents increase in Washington County

According to the Washington County call log, there is an increase in vehicle vs. deer accidents.

The log reports that at 7:11 a.m. Thursday a vehicle vs. deer accident was reported at 3030 Highway 22 in Riverside. Another accident was reported at 9 p.m. at 1524 highway 218 in Riverside. The vehicle was towed. Another vehicle struck a deer at 9:08 p.m. Thursday in the 2700 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth.

Iowa remains among the top states for accidents with deer. A new study shows Iowa remains one of the top states for deer collisions. State Farm?s 2017 deer-collision study shows Iowa drivers have a 1-in-69 chance of hitting a deer, elk or moose, making it fourth highest in the nation.
