Josh and Brooke Hesseltine are the proud parents of a baby girl, Johonnah Jean Hesseltine who arrived on Friday, April 6, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She weighted 7 pounds 5 1/2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Big Brother, Bentley, who is 4 years-old welcomed her. Grandparents are Keith and Brenda Lyon of Brighton and Glenn Hesseltine of Crawfordsville and Christine Stauffer of Mount Pleasant. Great-grandmothers are Aline Hesseltine and Helen Lease of Crawfordsville, and Barb Gesling of Washington, and Myrna Lyon of Davenport.
The regular meeting of Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society was held Monday, March 26, 2018 at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened the meeting with the group sing the Sword of Gold.
Joan Rodgers provided the meditation with two readings called The Legend of the Dogwood Tree and Twas the Night Before Easter.
Twelve members answered roll call with a famous person in history.
Minutes of the previous month?s meeting were read with no corrections.
The electronic edition of the Tidings has been received. There is a T.T.T. Campaign called ?Help Our Campers Bloom? where members can buy flower packets or bulbs with 50 percent of the total funds going to the Project Fund.
The National T.T.T. Chapter will invoice each chapter for the girl?s camp T-shirts, including an average shipping cost.
A Membership Tool-kit will be sent out to each chapter.
Tidbits and Tales was also received electronically. Chapters are reminded that the membership challenge this year is to add 107 members.
Marlys Fear agreed to take the position of Corresponding Secretary due to a resignation.
The treasurer?s report was given by Missy Fear and will be filed for audit.
Committee Reports: Camp Girls- Nancy McGohan, Barb Shelman and Jen Slagel are working on setting up a time to go shopping with the girls. Next month needed items will be taken care of in preparation for camp.
Gifts: Pat Miller had sent birthday cards to camp girls.
Charity: Marlys sent each of the four camp girls from last year a gift card for Easter.
Ways and Means: President Shelman will text or email Leah Woline concerning the Pizza Ranch Nite.
Old Business: Chapter L?s revised bylaws were sent in and approved with three minor corrections. These won?t need to be revised for another 5 years.
Missy Fear will attend convention April 13 and 14, as President Shelman is unable to go. Nancy McGohan also will attend.
A discussion was held by the group regarding moneys to be sent to the National Project Fund and the State Project Fund. A motion was made by Sharon Beattie to send the same amount as last year to both. Motion was seconded by Joan Rodgers and motion carried.
There was no new business or bills.
Shelman thanked Pat Miller and Robin McClanahan for refreshments. Mary Benson and Ruth Erwin will be hostesses for the next meeting on Monday, April 23, at the Olds United Church of Christ. Missy will have meditations. As there was no further business the meeting adjourned with the closing creed.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 17 members and one guest, Jane Blieu attending.
Lion Lance Miller called the meeting to order with the Pledge to the Flag and Lion Secretary Nancy Love offered the mealtime prayer. After a delicious dinner prepared by Alice Hochstetler and served by Shirley Massey, the meeting reconvened.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with corrections. The treasurer?s report was given by Randy Finke.
Old Business: the road clean up/cleanup scheduled for April 14 has been canceled. April 6 was the cutoff/cut off date for the Crawfordsville Lions Club WACO student scholarship; there were five applicants. A final letter from the club?s Prison Puppy Trainer was passed around as well as an update as to his progress at the Canine Development Center in Michigan. A thank-you note was passed around for the club?s contribution in Lara Hochstetler?s name to the World indigenous Mission.
New business: It was announced that Lion Secretary Nancy Love has been re-elected for a second term as Trustee for the Iowa Lions Foundation, District 9 SE. It was noted that this district is in third place in donations for the current year. The Crawfordsville Community Club?s Easter Egg Hunt which was co-sponsored by the Lions Club was a great success. Lion Adam Mitchell applauded the comminty club?s effort to bring life to the town of Crawfordsville.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned with a round of trivia by Lion Tail Twister Larry Fletcher and Lion Joel Greene.
