Crawfordsville High School alumni banquet

Alumni and friends of the Crawfordsville High School met at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Saturday, June 9, 2018 for the 93rd annual banquet and reunion. There were 51 in attendance for the delicious salisbury steak dinner served by church members. The theme of the banquet was ?smiles? and decorations of smiley face centerpieces and smiley face balloons were in the school colors of red and white.

Larry Fletcher and Phyllis Eisele were in charge of the business meeting. Gerry Farrier read the minutes from the 2017 meeting. Martha Chalupa was pianist for the singing of school songs and also a song about ?smiles.?

Various humorous stories were shared by several graduates about high school days. People attending were from 10 different states.

Christie Rickey was present from the class of 1945. Other graduates present were Bob Lowe and Ruth Schantz Johnston from the class of 1946, Bea Hesser and Andy Whiting from the class of 1947; from the 70 year class of 1948: Donald Monson; Keith Fisher and Joyce Suter Huff from the 65 year class of 1953 and Donna Blankenhorn Vick and Gwyneth Jones Augustine from the 60 year class of 1958.

Deaths reported during the past year are: Dwight Graber, and Hope Irene Ross Hoyt, class of 1944; Kenneth Beenblossom and Joyce Gault class of 1946; Lucille Graber Shewmake, class of 1947; Betty Lou Johnson Holmes, class of 1953; Claire Curtis and Janet Curtis Windmiller, class of 1954; Keith Thomas and Dorothy Coakley, class of 1955; Ruth Curtis Lambert, class of 1959 and Judy Hering Bartholow and Don Allender, class of 1960.

The committee that coordinated this event was : Phyllis Eisele, Larry and Donna Fletcher, Pat and Daryl Owens, Gerry Farrier and Ruth Erwin. A special thanks to Donna Fletcher who prints the invitations and programs and to Gene and Pat Miller and Wayne and Debbie Lowe and their helpers who prepared and served the meal.

The evening concluded with the singing of ?God Bless America.?


Crawfordsville Fun Days will be held Saturday, July 6 and 7 .

The events will begin on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with a Bags Tournament at the Ball Field east of the elementary school and will be followed by an Outdoor Family Movie at 9:00 p.m. There is also a raffle all day.
