The Wayland Lions Club held its April meeting on April 17, at the Wayland Community Center. There were 14 members present. President Bill Grimm called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Meyer gave the invocation before the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.
At the resumption of the meeting, Lion Brian Pattyson read the minutes of the last meeting and Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer?s Report, which was approved.
? A $500 Scholarship was approved for a WACO senior at this year?s graduation. The name of the winner was being forwarded to WACO High School.
? April 10 was the 60th Anniversary of the Wayland Lions Club serving its communities. An Anniversary Dinner is being planned for October for current members and their guests. A committee was formed to plan for the event.
? A ?Diabetes Awareness Program? was discussed further and plans for the program are being made.
? The June Blood Drive has not finalized a date.
? Wayland Lions held the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, at West Park. The Easter Bunny entertained 150 enthusiastic participants.
? The Fourth of July plans were discussed for the Annual Pancake Breakfast starting at 7 a.m. Some plans for the supplies were made.
? Treasurer Terry Kaufman reminded the members that yearly dues are required by the May 15 meeting.
? President Grimm asked to have a second vice president approved; confirmation is pending.
? President Bill Grimm asked all members to send him ideas they want to discuss the Friday before the next meeting. Grimm will start sending out an agenda before each meeting to promote quality and timely discussion.
? Lion Marianne Pattyson asked that all events and officer positions be input to Lions report, so all information is current and giving credit for Wayland Lions Club service to the Wayland communities.
? Secretary Gary Lauder had suggested interesting trips to add to the Lions Club experience. President Grimm asked Gary to follow up with some ideas and plans.
The official meeting ended at 8 p.m.
