Post 29 American Legion met in regular session with Mike York commanding. Report regarding finance and membership was heard from Adjutant Jim Peterson. Lonny Milligan, fundraising chair, summed up events recently held on Veterans Day. Members provided programs for local retirement homes and schools, in addition to the 11 o?clock ceremony at the Blair house and the evening dinner at the United Presbyterian church. Students of a local school had constructed a huge flag on which they expressed their thanks to veterans. There were 131 messages.

A new member was welcomed ? John Gish, Army veteran of eight years and a commissioned officer.

The winter supply of gloves and caps have been purchased and will be given to patients at the VA hospital in Iowa City.

The program was provided by member Jack Bonham who spoke of Veterans Day, his experiences and remembrances, handshakes and hugs he received from people he didn?t even know who thanked him for his service.

Veterans are invited to join the group as guests/prospective members, meeting at the Blair House on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
