Child rescued from drowning

COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? A child was saved Wednesday afternoon after being found unresponsive in the Columbus Community Swimming Pool, a news release from the Columbus Junction Police Department said.

According to the report, at 4:09 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, a 911 call was made to the Louisa County Sheriff?s Office reporting an unresponsive child at the pool. On arrival, responders were advised the 5-year-old male child had been rescued from the pool. The name of the child was not released. Lifesaving measures including CPR were performed. Through those efforts, the child became responsive. The child was then transported by AirCare to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clincis in Iowa City.

The Louisa County Ambulance, Columbus Junction Fire Department, and Columbus Junction Police Department responded to the incident. The release said any further statements will come from Columbus Community School staff, as they are responsible for the swimming pool.
