Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Beginning Young Farmer meeting on March 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Washington County Extension office. The Extension office is located at 2223 250th St., in Washington.
The focus for this meeting will be on livestock opportunities within agriculture that beginning farmers might be interested in. The meeting will feature the following topics and speakers: maximize your return when investing in livestock, Ryan Drollette, ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist; essential tips for meeting with your banker?things you cannot afford NOT to know, Janelle Johnson, ag loan officer with Hills Bank; and unique livestock opportunities and niche markets in Iowa?Did you know we?ve got Iowa fish farmers?!?, Nathan Katzer, Investment Manager with Iowa Farm Bureau and Chief Financial Officer at Eagle?s Catch, LLLP.
