Accidents reported during spring snowstorm

Many accidents were reported Sunday afternoon and evening as a spring snowstorm moved through the area causing roads to become slick.


At 4:57 p.m. a vehicle was reported in the ditch at 265th Street and Highway 218 in Ainsworth. An officer responded. Help was coming with a tow strap. The subject was stuck in the mud.


A vehicle was reported stuck in the ditch at the Highway 218 and Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth. An officer advised the vehicle was able to get out of the ditch.


A Toyota Prius reportedly hit a guard rail at 5:33 p.m. Sunday at the Highway 218 and Highway 22 ramp in Riverside. Two subjects were reported in the vehicle. No injuries were reported. An officer responded. The subjects advised they were going to try to make it home.


An officer reported being out with a vehicle accident at Redwood and Highway 92 in Washington. The driver was waiting for a ride.


A blue van was reported in the ditch at 2559 Spruce Avenue in Washington at 5:50 p.m. Sunday. The owner advised he would have the vehicle towed Monday.


An accident was reported at 6 p.m. Sunday at Highway 92 and Spruce Avenue in Washington. The officer advised there was under $1,500 damage and the vehicle was drivable.


A vehicle was reported in the ditch at 1239 Highway 22 in Wellman at 6:21 p.m. An officer responded.


A Mercury Sable was reported in the ditch at 6:26 p.m. Sunday at 1239 Highway 1 in Kalona. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500. The driver had a ride coming.


A Dodge Charger was reported in the ditch at 6:23 p.m. Sunday at Highway 1 and 170th Street in Washington. An officer was unable to locate.


A vehicle was reported in the ditch at 6:33 p.m. Sunday at 230th Street and Highway 218 in Ainsworth. An officer responded. The vehicle was towed.


Two vehicles were reported in the median at Highway 218 and 320th Street in Crawfordsville at 6:36 p.m. Sunday. An officer responded. One of the vehicles was still in the median. The subject was given a ride to the casino.


A rollover accident with an injury was reported at 7:10 p.m. Sunday at Highway 218 and 320th Street in Crawfordsville. Officers, Crawfordsville QRS, Crawfordsville Fire, Washington County Rescue and Washington County Ambulance responded. one subject was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.


A traffic accident was reported at 8:51 p.m. Sunday at 220th Street and Spruce Avenue in Washington. An officer responded. The subject reported she was fine and her husband was coming to pull her out.


An officer reported at 10:48 p.m. Sunday being out with a maroon Ford Taurus in the south ditch at Highway 22 and Hickory Avenue in Kalona.


A caller reported sliding into a ditch at 220th Street and Riverside Road in Washington at 3:25 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported The vehicle was drivable with minimal or no damage. The incident was documented.
