Washington County 4-H members weighed in production swine projects on Saturday, March 24, for the 2018 Washington County Fair marking the official state date of their project.
A new production gilt class was added to the swine department this year, which nearly doubled the number of pigs involved. Ninety-one pigs were weighed in for the production classes and 45 additional barrows were weighed in for the single source commercial swine class.
Those swine 4-H members with these pigs will receive email notification to verify weights in 4hOnline by May 15. Any breeding animals will also need to be entered into 4hOnline accounts by May 15. Staff at the Extension office can assist with this if needed.
Thank-you to the swine families and superintendents Bruce Kauffman and Ryan Gerot who assisted with the weigh-in. Sieren Swine Farms of Keota coordinates pigs for the single source swine class.
