George E. Fry was born May 3, 1932, near Frytown, Iowa, the son of George V. and Nellie (Crow) Fry. He graduated from Kalona High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Army and served his country as a paratrooper from 1950-1953 in the Korean War. On August 24, 1957, George was united in marriage to Harriet Berg at the United Christian Baptist Church in Kalona. George worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City for over 30 years as chief of supply. George passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 86 years. George is survived by two daughters: Connie (Bob) Andersen of Kalona and Tracy (Kenton) Jones of Parnell, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister Delores Paulsen of Iowa City and a brother Daryl Fry of Florida. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 12, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
